IMO, it's a popularity contest. I did vote for someone who answered the questions thoughtfully and seems to have vision.
The front runner, however? Just has a lot of friends. The answers that user gave are flippant and show absolutely nothing about why s/he should be the user representative.
That's why if more of us who aren't doing it due to popularity then we make it not so much. It's kind of like the whole thing about voting for a third party candidates. The whole concept of throwing the vote away. Only in this case I think it can make a more clear impact.
